Sunday Morning:
On Sunday morning we offer a warm and welcoming place to reflect on the spiritual journey. We identify our theology as progressive as seen in our understanding of scripture, our language in liturgy and our acknowledgement of the limitations of ancient doctrine and dogma. We are open to exploring many different ideas and paths to finding our faith and living it with compassion and intelligence.
Special Services:
During the Church Year we follow the Revised Common Lectionary and the themes that are offered for each Sunday. For special times of the Church Year such as Advent, Lent and Easter or during the summer months we offer special services. On months with 5 Sunday's, a previously recorded service is broadcasted on CKBW radio, Bridgewater on that 5th Sunday.
The Church Family Celebrates New Members (Baptism):
Baptism marks the welcome in the Church of a new member. In the United Church of Canada we believe that membership into the family of Jesus begins with baptism. Baptism usually occurs when parents bring their infant or young child to the church family to be welcomed and named. And while baptism usually happens with younger children, baptism is open to anyone who wants to belong to the church family and wants that belonging to be marked in a public Sunday service.
All baptisms must be coordinated through the Minister and approved by Session.
The Church Family Celebrates at the Table of Jesus (Communion):
In the United Church of Canada we celebrate Communion at an "Open Table". This means that everyone is welcome to share in the Communion meal and there are no restrictions regarding denomination or confession of faith. We also celebrate together by being attentive to those people who have food sensitivities. We accomplish this by offering both regular and gluten-free bread.
